LOS ANGELES -- 996 ArchivesWalking Dead just set a Twitter record.
The AMC show's Sunday night Season 7 debut was the most-tweeted TV episode of 2016, not including sports/special events, according to Twitter.
Globally, there were 4.6 million tweets. The top moment on the social media platform came around 9:30 p.m. EST after the (sob!) second death of a character in that same episode.
The show has long been considered one of the most buzz-worthy television series.
During the 2015-2016 season, the zombie drama was the No. 1 most-tweeted series in the U.S. with an average of 435,000 tweets sent per episode.
