North Korea's statement comes in response to Trump's earlier announcement that threats from North Korea would be met "with fire and fury like the world has never seen" -- one of the most strongly worded statements yet to come from Trump's presidency.
General Kim also goes on to say that Trump has failed "to grasp the on-going grave situation", adding that it was "getting on the nerves" of the KPA.
North Korea also announced in the same statement a detailed plan to launch missiles aimed at the waters off the coast of Guam, as a way of signalling "a crucial warning to the U.S."
The pacific island of Guam is home to the U.S. naval base as well as an air force base.
It's also located 2,000 miles (3,400km) away from Pyongyang, and North Korea has claimed that the island is within range of its medium and long-range missiles.
The statement added that the military would "complete" the plan by mid-August, and it would be reported and sent to Kim Jong-un to await "his order".
