Spotify announced the launch of a handy feature for iOS users Monday: It's designed for people who play Spotify tracks while they're going to bed.
"Sleep Timer" lets users set a time when they want their music or Ongoing Archivesother soothing sounds to automatically turn off. That means you can put on your favorite bedtime track to fall asleep without worrying that Spotify will keep playing long into the night.
To find the feature, navigate to the three dots button in the top right corner of the play screen (that's the screen that shows the song currently playing). Scroll down, and if you've updated your app, you should see the Sleep Timer feature. Then you can choose how long you want Spotify to play for, whether five minutes, an hour, or until the end of the track.
Spotify already released the feature for Android in the spring, which Reddit users spotted in May.
The expansion to iOS is convenient, even though there's already a way to effectively set a sleep timer directly through your iPhone or other Apple product. When you set a timer in Apple's clock feature, you get to choose what happens when the timer goes off via the "When Timer Ends" option list. This lets you pick the ringtone — but scroll down, and you'll also find an option for "Stop Playing."
Whichever way iPhone users want to control their bedtime audio experience, sweet dreams.
