Now that Apple's big iPhone 13 event is Ask Me What You Want (2024)behind us, the company is likely to turn its attention to other devices in its lineup, such as the MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is likely to launch new MacBook Pro laptops "in the coming weeks." Gurman says Apple typically launches new Macs in October, and he also provides some details on the specs of the upcoming MacBooks (via MacRumors).
The new laptops will feature Apple's new M1X chip, which Gurman calls a "likely name" for a "more graphics-intense and professional-focused M1 chip." The M1X will probably come in two variants, both with 10 CPU cores, and with either 16 or 32 GPU cores.
Gurman doesn't seem to be so sure about the Mac mini, which has also been long-rumored to launch with the new M1X chip. He says it's probably happening "at some point."
Last year, Apple followed up its iPhone launch event (which was held in October; a bit later than usual, due to the Covid-19 pandemic) with a November event where it launched the first MacBooks with the new, Apple-designed chip, the Apple M1. Notably, Apple then also launched an updated Mac mini, which also features the M1 chip.
Besides the new MacBooks and (possibly) the new Mac mini, Apple is also rumored to be preparing for the launch of new, third-generation AirPods.
