Since the dawn of time, or perhaps since August 2016, humanity has pondered one question: How the heck does Steve (Joe Keery) on Stranger Thingsget his hair like that?
In Season 2, we finally get our answer, and we can sleep peacefully (with a few Upside Down nightmares) knowing the secret.
SEE ALSO: 'Stranger Things 2' shows just how good Millie Bobby Brown isOne of the best unexpected delights of Stranger Things 2is the brief buddy-comedy starring Steve and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) when none of the other boys answer their walkie-talkies.
"Reading that and getting prepared for that was like, 'I can’t believe this is working out this way,'" Keery told Mashable. He has four sisters of his own and was happy to see Steve become a bit of a big brother to Dustin. "I think it’s that these two characters are left in the dust by their different parties and they end up finding each other and learning what they need to learn from each other. And they’re hard on each other but they also celebrate each other and I think it’s a brotherly relationship."
The unlikely duo set out to find Dart, Dustin's escaped otherworldly pet. As they hike through the woods, they get to talking and bonding, as bros do. Steve, his high school's leading ladies' man (or so he hopes – the throne is in contention), tries to mentor Dustin on how to woo a woman, and their interaction is a highlight not only of the show, but probably television and possibly human history.
"I just feel like you're trying way too hard," Steve says while idly tossing raw meat onto the forest path to lure Dart.
"Well not everyone can have your perfect hair, all right?" Dustin snaps.
But it's not about the hair, Steve says; there's more to getting girls to like you. Still, he softens as he assesses his protégé, and decides to tell him the truth.
"Fabergé," Steve says. "It's Fabergé Organics. Use the shampoo and the conditioner, and when your hair's damp – it's not wet, okay? – when it's damp, do four puffs of the Farrah Fawcett spray."
Not since Ethan Craft stopped repeating has the world of TV hair been so shook. The best part is that Fabergé stopped selling most cosmetic products in 1984, so none of us can test the theory! The Stranger Thingshair and makeup team is obviously using something else on Keery's hair, but we can count on that to remain secret.
Or maybe we'll find out in Season 3.
Stranger Things 2is now streaming on Netflix.
