Forget the fantastic beasts – the latest photos from Fantastic Beasts: The Watch Female Disciple Who Teaches the Taste of a Voluptuous Woman OnlineCrimes of Grindelwaldare all about fabulous coats.
There are shiny ones and woolly ones, patterned ones and tweedy ones. Fantastic Beastsmay pit good against evil, but the one thing both sides have in common, apparently, is a passion for fine outerwear.
SEE ALSO: 'Fantastic Beasts' isn't going to recast Johnny Depp, and that's a huge mistakeFirst, though, let's get this out of the way: Yes, Depp is still in this thing. Yes, this still seems like a terrible idea, J.K. Rowling's bizarre statement notwithstanding.
But Warner Bros. seems determined to stick with Depp, for whatever reason. And seeing as the movie is named after his character, we're guessing he plays a pretty big part. So here we are.
Anyway, next to Depp's Grindelwald is Vinda Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech), described as "one of Grindelwald’s most trusted followers, a loyal servant to his cause and often at his side."
Clearly Vinda's taste in leaders can't be trusted, but her taste in cold-weather apparel is another matter. That may just be the best damn coat in a movie fullof enviable coats, and that jaunty hat makes for a perfect finishing touch.
(Grindelwald's military-inspired outfit is pretty nice, too, even if we don't much care for the guy wearing it.)
Moving on, we've got Newt in a snappy tweed number. Behind him is Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). He's clad in a drab, shapeless thing, because the poor Muggle can't catch a break.
We now come to Dumbledore, who was unconventional even in his youth. You can tell because unlike literally everyone else in these photos, he doesn't have a coat. What a rebel!
If he gets cold, maybe he can borrow that stunning patterned piece from the dude behind him.
But this film isn't just about pretty jackets. It's about gorgeous shoes, too. Keep an eye on those boots, Newt, or I may just head over to magical Paris and try to steal them for myself.
Also starring Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Zoë Kravitz, Ezra Miller, Claudia Kim, and Callum Turner, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwaldhits theaters Nov. 16, 2018.
