Diplo (no,Busty Lifeguards (2010) not James Van Der Beek) spoke to GQ recently about touring in Uganda and Ethiopia, but somehow the conversation steered towards Rihanna (like most conversations do, admit it).
In the piece, Diplo shares that he's been pursuing a collaboration with Rihanna, but apparently, she's not here for it one bit.
Not only did he reveal that she once called Diplo and Major Lazer's track "Lean On" house music (he "face-palmed so hard on that one"), she delivered some glorious shade with her description of another song Diplo played for her.
SEE ALSO: James Van Der Beek plays Diplo in a new comedy and it's as weird as it soundsRihanna's shade, in Diplo's own words in GQ,is as follows:
Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high. Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, Yo, G, I'm leaving unless you let me play her a song.So I played her a song. And she was like, This sounds like a reggae song at an airport. [laughs]I was like, I'm gonna go kill myself.
A 👏 Reggae 👏 Song 👏 At 👏 An 👏 Airport.
Which, if you'd like to think of it like I do, has many layers considering Diplo likes to borrow sounds from various cultures, has been to a lot of airports, and talks about countries like Uganda and Ethiopia in a nauseating way within the GQ feature.
Many folks agreed that the mild dragging was an important detail in the article.
