There ain't no shade like ex-U.S. president shade, the courtesan and the nun: finding spaces for female eroticism in renaissance italy because ex-U.S. president shade comes from someone who was literally a leader of the free world.
Today's shade-thrower is George H.W. Bush. The first President Bush pulls no punches in his frank take on Donald Trump. The detail, in the form of a direct quote, comes from author John Updegrove's upcoming book, The Last Republicans, which explores the father-son relationship between the father-son ex-Presidents Bush.

The book, which was the subject of a New York Timesfeature on Saturday, also notes that neither ex-president Bush voted for Trump. Dubya voted for "none of the above," and his dear, old dad actually cast his vote for Trump challenger Hillary Clinton, which had been rumored but never confirmed firsthand.
These are minor details in a book that explores one of the most mystery-shrouded relationships in modern politics, but that doesn't make them any less enjoyable to read. Shade on, President Bush. Shade on.
The Trump White House issued a statement responding to critical comments leveled by the two Presidents Bush in Updegrove's book.
